The Origin of Baking Stone and Its Primary Function

Baking stone has been used as a cooking utensil even way back before. Some archaeologists have discovered that during the era of Stone Age, stones were used by men in pulverizing starches to turn it into powder and then use it to bake some foods in a fire pit which is now equivalent to an oven.

Before baking stones were used in pizza creation, they were used in producing flat breads. These flat breads were the inspiration of the innovation of pizza. Baking stones are efficient in baking in a sense that foods are not burned. The stone absorbs the direct heat that comes from fire that prevents the bread from burning.

Aside from baking flat breads and pizzas, baking stones can also be used in cooking almost anything especially if you wanted them to have the crispiness. On the other hand, to avoid brittleness and cracking of the basing stone, oil it daily and use a non-stick spray every time you cook. Never immerse them in water once they are hot.
